HYDRAULIC ROCK SPLITTING

 

Hydraulic rock and concrete splitters provide a powerful and cost-effective alternative to other conventional demolition techniques. Hydraulic splitting means controlled splitting, this method eliminates shockwaves, vibrations, dust and noise that large impact tools usually produce.

Conventional demolition techniques destroy rock and concrete by using an external force. However, because of their compressive strength, these materials are highly resistant to impact forces. The tensile strength however is far lower meaning pushing from the inside of the material. The hydraulic splitters were developed to do just this and work according to a safe and proven wedge principle.

HOW IT WORKS

​

First of all, a hole is drilled to a specified diameter and depth using one of Rock Mechanix hydraulic or pnuematic rock drills.

 

The wedge is then inserted into the hole in a retracted position.The hydraulic pressure then forces the wedge between the two counter wedges, pressing them against the walls of the drilled hole.

​

The effective splitting force of up to 413 tons or 4048 kN breaks concrete and rock from the inside, with the ability to break thin iron rods at the same time.

CHEMICAL ROCK BREAKING

 

Chemical Rock Breaking is a Non-Explosive, highly expansive powder composition for stone breaking, granite and marble quarrying, concrete cutting and demolition. Chemical Cracking Agent is safe, environment friendly and a good and viable alternative to explosives and other traditional methods of rock breaking and demolition. Chemical Cracking Agent is mixed with clean water and poured into pre-drilled holes on rock and concrete. The diluted Chemical Cracking Agent swells and exerts significant expansive thrust on the hole-wall, fracturing the wall and splitting the rock across the line of the drill holes.

Despite being a great priduct with fantastic potential, Chemical Cracking Agent has a small margin for error, and must be mixed and used in accordance to manufactures specification. Factors such as temperate, drill hole diameter andexposure to moisture can have adverse effects on the product, leading to failure.

NON DETONATING EXPLOSIVES

AutoStemTM Products were developed to exceed the limitatons of conventonal explosive products, by avoiding the creaton of a detonatng shockwave. The implicatons thereof are significant.

The Civils Blasting Cartridge is a non-detonating blasting cartridge that creates no shockwave vibration. The product is widely used for perimeter blasting on building sites and in residential areas. The product is also well designed for road side trenching, blasting near HV lines, and for laying of water pipes and other utilities. The Civils Blasting Cartridge is also  highly effective in breaking concrete, as well as in multiple-story building demolition. As with all of Advanced Non-Detonating Products, the Civils Blasting Cartridge does not require any stemming or explosive accessories making its use simple, quick and seamless.
